Dr. Kutner is a clinical psychologist who trained at the Mayo Clinic and who teaches in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He has spent more than 20 years as a print and broadcast journalist, including seven years writing the "Parent & Child" column for the New York Times. The column received the 1990 National Psychology Award from the American Psychological Association, which cited it as the best writing about psychology in any newspaper in the United States. He has also written monthly magazine columns on child behavior for such publications as Parents and Parenting, and is the author of five books on child development, as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
